Medical Records Review To:
a. Organize, tab and paginate medical records.
b. Identify issues and facts to determine merits of case.
c. Screen or investigate medical records for missing documents.
Case Analysis To:
a. Identify the deviations from, and adherences to, the applicable
standards of care, policies and procedures, and accreditation
standards.
b. Identify strengths and weaknesses of case with supporting
recommendations.
c. Develop theory of negligence and assist in making causation.
Brief or Comprehensive Reporting On:
a. Preliminary review and brief opinion report outlining the basic
issues and facts to determine merits of a case.
b. Comprehensive report identifying specific, strengths and
weaknesses, and summary of events of issue. Responses to
allegations of plaintiff or defense, recommendations on testifying
witnesses, and additonal materials for production.
c. Timeline or chronologies of events at issue.
Education of Attorney/Litigation Team/Jurors About:
a. Medical terminology, basic anatomy and disease process, and
medical abreviations.
b. Major medical issues or facts of case.
Assist Attorney/Litigation Team with:
a. Preparation of interrogatories and requests for production.
b. Preparation of questions for discovery, deposition, mediation and
trial.
c. Expert witness identificaton, location and preparation.
d. Literature and internet searches for standards of care, disease
pathology, prognosis, causation, complications and statistics.
e. Attendance at depositions, trials, review panels, artribation and
mediation.
f. Attendance as expert witness at deposition and trial.
